I've decided that more than a vagina I would like to be castrated. I'm ecstatic for the beauty of my alienation of the world having one round penis and no balls. I just don't think having a vagina is my vibe.

Is Virginia just endless ennui?
Or is New York just constant stimulation-
Some form of escapism/ a way to brew problems.
Today is Sophia Lamar's birthday, which has marked almost 7 days in Virginia plus my second time on Instagram this week (I took it serious enough this time to "deactivate") plus I broke my sober streak by drinking amaretto.
My mother left me alone today so I pulled the trigger and called my aunt. Full fledged Ohio bound now.
In the past maybe three retarded weeks since I've last written anything I've amounted to sludge and slop.
In New York I can at least look like a little girl in a see through white dress. Here I'm confronted by my mother about a white thong in a hooker dress.
At least the last thing I needed hasn't been uncovered (the giant bruise on my thigh from slamming into a wall).
I arrived to Virginia with death crept on my shoulder after having slept a total of five hours on the bus (unheard of). The best part about being here is that I don't have to be THERE.
My last week brought hedonism to its peak in such an ineffable way that I will attempt to make tangible.
A new summer away always reveals some form of truth. This time it doesn't feel like a college break the way I much more understand sociology than I did two years previously with

I know of my character and I know I wear my heart on my sleeve. My upbringing of shadows and shuns. It's hard to be myself somewhere so uninspiring. I could drink myself to death in New York but God imagine here.
Here all I have is my body and my things. But I think I could survive off three dresses and two skirts + a few vtgy tees and a pair of flats.
*edit (I could not)
I walked along the yellow strip for the N train when someone recognized me.
I waved and took out my earbud as I passed him on the narrow platform.
"You work at the store!" he said to me
"Yeah, I'm going there right now actually"
I keep getting recognized from working the store.
A second later two women stopped me.
"I love your look! Very 80's. Is this a normal outfit for you?"
"Oh totally. This is like the most me outfit ever. This is me in my true form" I responded
"You need some combat boots to complete the look!"
"No cause then it wouldn't be true to her" her friend replied
I was wearing my army jacket, my little black pointelle dress, jelly flats and my classic messy updo.

Maybe I'm a New York personality?
Sontag argues against interpretation because of modern day excess and a need to feel scholarly rather than confront art as its physical form + not delving into content in order to contextualize and form theories of hermeneutics. I think this can still be applicable especially with schools approach at interpretation especially in a class of art history.
How does this compare now to how we live with our screen in our face and lack of enjoyment in class or of learning and seek pleasure through addictions implanted in us by big tech. It now feels counter to interpret and to enjoy art at face level- counter to what is fed to us.

Today I was half productive. I straightened my hair only to go out in the rain all day. Crossroads gave me 38 dollars and took 6 items. I took it after my ex-boyfriend and threw the rest of the clothes on the side of 2nd avenue.
Now I'm going to see Billy. To find some shitty bar to find "trade" quote on quote. I don't know why I'm feeling so anxious and upset. I feel insane like I'm jumping off the walls and I feel completely neurotic.
I'm smooth. I'm raw and primal. I'm bleeding in multiple places. The pain is what I envisioned. I'm OK
I got off the Astor Place 6 train stop and rung Billy's doorbell. I handed him his PrEP that I had picked up for him earlier in the day and we embarked on our night.
We hopped and skipped to Tile bar where we sat at the bar pressed between two NYU students and a first date couple over dressed for this cheap bar.

I thought I would have half an interesting thought or some meaningful reflection over my first funeral.
What I can say is, I thought the funeral was touching and brought a sense of community, but I found it pathetic that it was used as a way to socialize.
I thought

was fabulous and I learned about my father. There was definitely tenderness over my grandma and him. Such as my mother crying at Ave Maria, to later reveal that they also sung it at my fathers funeral.
What I can say for certain is that the church and the service was completely theatrical. and the priest was a dweeb. Theatre is about performance so at least the priest could have done was perform, and put on a show. Plus all this retardation in the catholic practice where only active members of the church were able to get up to eat and drink jesus.
Nobody wants to work but you are an ACTOR! So put on a performance. Not to mention he didn't even speak spanish. Having someone equipped and skilled to actually speak the language would have been the minimum. It all felt hollow and performative.
Actors have to memorize their lines why shouldn't a priest? You could feel the way he was reading the script and each pause when the name came up you can just tell the script said [INSERT NAME].
Plus he way he was just completely bored and uninterested the entire service. People devote their entire lives to the church and god. My grandmother and her daughters spent her last moments on their knees praying fervently just for the priest to not even care.

"Can I bathe myself?" I ask the Politician, sitting up in his bed
The bathroom in his studio consists of only a toilet and a sink. The "shower" is actually just a bathtub in the middle of the room, that dubs as a kitchen island with a wooden board to cover when not in use. The Politician is half asleep but im cautious to not disturb his slumber. The plank of wood is heavy. I strip myself and plug the shower head into the faucet. The apartment is dark. The only light is through the sliver of the curtain that remained open. I rinse myself attempting to keep the water inside the tub. The apartment would be quite easy to flood. I'm surrounded by artwork in the dim studio. It's quite a transcendental feeling; dark shower-bath, sitting down, dark, surrounded by beautiful art in his gorgeous apartment.
Once dry and dressed I walk three blocks down. I buzz Billy. He lets me up.
"Hold up I'm still getting dressed"
First on order. I'm already late to work. Slow morning.
I woke up tense and taut and arrived to work only 6 minutes and 51 seconds late. 5 hours into my shift I get called in for my performance review.
"Overall we would conclude your performance is outstanding. You just sometimes get chatty and distract others, but you're great and really represent the brand and can elevate a white t-shirt. Because of this we're deciding to give you a .50 cent raise!"
Caroline hung up the zoom call. We both burst out laughing.
"That's like a slap in the face."
I guess it's better than nothing." I said
As I signed the paper for my .50 cent raise
My phone started ringing. The Politician was calling me.
"Would you like to be my date to The Explores club?
"What is that?" I asked
"It's an organization on the Upper East Side. They celebrate adventurers and people who go on expeditions. Look it up. They're hosting their annual gala dinner"
"Sure but im not off till 8"
"I'm getting dressed right now im 15 minutes late
"I'll hit you when I'm off"
I was quite glad I dressed myself in my appropriate length mini skirt and my cashmere sweater unknowing I would have a ¿formal? occasion. I headed toward the Spring St uptown 6.
By the time I got there the event was practically ending. The Politician scored me a glass of white wine and we traversed the space with him and his company. Mika used the opportunity as an instagram opp and stayed glued on her phone taking selfies. Once the event was officially over the crowd moved outside and The Politician began to regroup and find the right mix to go back to his.
We fit ourselves into two cars.
"You really have a Jackie Kennedy vibe to you" The Politicians explorer friend said to me
I laughed at the perfect innuendo for my new politician boyfriend and my dressed like the first lady. We sat in traffic on FDR Drive and The Politicians phone rang
"His manager is going to drop him. He's seriously not ok. He won't stop doing drugs and it's come to a point that he'll be dead by Sunday. He's unsavable. He's going to die."
"Who is this? Who is he talking about?" I whispered to The Politician
He muted the phone
"This is Clavicular's social media coordinator. He's helping with my campaign"
Back at the apartment the mix was young explorers, the Marine (war criminal), a freshly (re)married couple form New Jersey, a very drunk russian, and other minglers.
Even through all the cocaine I sat completely unentertained by the marine's awful attempt at poetry. His poem about the ambivalence of sex and violence. Where the pull of a trigger felt like an orgasm.
BILLY'S LAST DAY OF WORK.
We wore our cheesecloth skirts and spent half our shift outside welcoming customers, talking shit & yelling "TRADE" at hot guys walking by.
With the sun beaming on us in true perfect April weather fashion, him in his big 60s bug DreamStyle sunnies and I, my fathers 90s shades.
"Hey by the way I have to leave work early." I said to the up-and-coming shift lead on her second day of promotion
"Uhhh what? Why?"
"My friend is having a gallery opening!"
"What? You can't just do whatever you want and leave midway through your shift" she said beginning to raise her voice and lose her temper
"Well I'm letting you know. Do you really need the coverage it's just two hours?"
*********
After Billy said his goodbyes and parted ways with his job, I, successfully able to excuse myself early, began to strip in the break room and get ready to take on the nights rendezvous. He came back a wee bit later with a pack of red solo cups and a bottle of white wine.
I had a ballet flat on my right foot and a black Chloe boot my left, and I made it everyone's business to help me decide which shoe to pair.
"Girl, we have to finish this entire thing in like 15 minutes." he said
I burst out laughing and I walk over to him and down my half bottle of wine. We toss the bottle and ditch the cups and embark on our journey down Broadway.
Our first stop was a gallery that his friend was working the reception. We enter a midst among a crowd of older people. We greet her as she pours cups of sparkling water for the attendees.
"Hold on let me get you something to drink"
She went into a closet and came back with two little cups of champagne.
"We used to serve champagne on opening days but people would come in just to drink and not look at the art."
Half drunk, Billy and I made our rounds around the gallery inspecting the art and the room. A sudden movement of mine made half my cup splatter and fizz across the wooden floor. The older people in the gallery pinned their eyes on us. Did we look so out of place? Or was my goat fur coat drawing wrong attention?
We continued the loop, we said our goodbyes to his friend and embarked on our second stop of the night. The streets of Tribeca were busy with art enthusiasts.
We approached the blacked out door of the gallery and floated through the room. I greeted my acquittances and we wound upstairs.
The gallerist greeted us and offered us beers that were hidden behind the steps. We cracked them open and interacted with the room. As it approached 8 o'clock the gallerist began to push everyone out and clear the space.
He informed us of the after party at his good friends nightclub at 11.
Billy and I lingered outside as we scoured the crowd, for our next move. A friend of mine approached us, a cigarette clinging from his lips. The Politician crept from behind him in a raggedy t-shirt and long camo shorts.
"We're going back to mine, you're welcome to come" said The Politician.
I turned to Billy.
"What do you think? He has a really beautiful apartment in the East Village"
Billy agreed. The politician scoured the crowd to invite more guests and called a car for us to cram into.
At his apartment he presented us with tonics with gin and a clear bag with a long metal spoon. This mix of the room included us kids in our early twenties, some in their late twenties, an older crowd stemming from their thirties to forties such as large straight men, a war criminal, and couple from New Jersey.
We walked to the after party which coincidentally was five blocks down from the apartment.
I've never felt exhaustion so visceral and widespread throughout my body.
For now I can at least say I'm having fun.

bathroom was not in my bucket list tonight. Nor was anything. I can't tell if this is normal. Their car will show up and only good things will happen.
"The kids will be okay" the gallerist told me
Their friend arrived in the wee hours of the morning. I watched the room, everyone chain smoking, puffing on green vapes, and huddled in groups, I sank in the couch. Everyone was ecstatic, small inconspicuous black bags passed around the room.
"Whats your address let me get you a car"
"It's okay I get get myself home, don't worry about it"
"No it's fine let me help you"
I told him my address but his eyed widened when he saw what a 7am ride to Brooklyn would cost.
"Here do you mind calling it?. I can give you 20 bucks."

When we started walking to his neighboring apartment I started to process what was about to happen
i picked him up from work and we went to kkgb bar. our second stop Sophie's. The Photographer comes up to me. He leaves for a cheeseburger
The night is cold and windy we light our cigarettes and step outside
"YOU'RE NEVER COMING BACK"

"Ha, I'm waiting for Sophia were going to mystery's show"
"Is she the one with mys mys myst?"
I enjoyed that her reputation followed her.
"What can I get you to drink?"
"Whiskey on the rocks"
"Ah, just like Sophia"

Sophia and I took the J into the Financial District where we attended Mys's show. I questioned my place here as young goth's waved past us. Not to mention mystery disliked me. It was a bit of a double edged sword. Once her performance ended Sophia said she was leaving. There wasn't anything there for me so I accompanied her out. She said she was walking home so we went uptown on Broadway.
"We can stop at Baby Grand if you'd like a drink on me" She waved her finger forward in true SL fashion
"I'm ok. I'm actually gonna go see some friends on the East side"
"Farewell my love"
At the bar with the toothless bouncer Fatima, Billy and I found ourselves at a gallery after party for nepo baby myst aa mystery
"Wait thats myst aa mystery" Billy said
"So? Why would I know who that is?"
Billy called him over
"So how was your show? Can we see your work?"
He handed us his phone to scroll through the photos on his instagram
"Give me this"
I put our instagram's in
"Quick someones calling him give it back. But rid the evidence"
We night capped at the graffitied dive bar
"You couldn't smoke in here since before you were born. Give me that. You guys gotta go"
The best way I could describe is he looked like Connor Story. Tall British, handsome
Fatima came with me outside we stumbled and laughed. I'm not waiting fo rthta lin im peeing here.
"Are you a homosexual?"
"I mean"
"Can you guard our table while we go out for a smoke?"
"What're you up to tonight"
I stumbled down 1st Avenue hardly remembering the rest of my night when I woke up in his bed the next morning.
"I'm so embarrassed"
"We were making out and you just started gagging"
"Lay on your stomach" he said aggressively
He began unbuttoning my 501s from behind. He made a witty comment about the big E and the selvedge edge.

"You know, it's about to be my birthday" I told him assertively
"No, it's not. When?"

I sipped on the lukewarm beer from earlier. He got into his clouded bed.
"Can you at least get me a car home?"
It wasn't my fault I didn't like him. Or the fact that he's a pervert, and a chaser, and on top of everything a bad lay. It wasn't even palliative. I just wanted something to do. I left with a zyn in my gums and the reflection Bed-Stuy and my somber evening in the window.

Power is knowing what you like. Confidence is power.
I walked into class an hour late. I walked in as I always do with a conniving smile to greet my amicus silently, who once again outdid the clown who tries (me), by not being there.
Sulking in unhappiness is being in a state where there are others that are having fun without you- which is as good as being dead.
Billy ordered us each a tequila soda and a beer shot combo. I sat in the corner of the graffitied dive bar with my leotard pressed on the dirty seat and my long goat fur caressing the grime of the seat.

We arrived to the Financial District with our passes in hand. The bouncers at the door wrapped our wrists with purple event bands. We explored the room
I called Olivia inquiring about her wearabouts. She said there was a line to get in. I went downstairs and the security screamed at us. There was a sea of beggars waiting for the upstairs entrance to open. The purple and red lights
On today's gloomy day I wore my new green trench coat. I only stepped on it twice; and I burned a hole in it with my cigarette. It takes one to wear no pants with a cock and balls, right?
"Next time make sure to book an appointment with extra time" she says to me sternly
She walks over to the receptionist desk with me. She scoffs.
"Make a note in her file; extra time needed."
I look at her puzzled. She shuffles off. What a bitch. I venmo her a thirty dollar tip. Why? She was a fucking cunt, and she ruined me.
Anxiety begins to fill me as I feel the unsatisfactory of my new look. The frigid crisp air from the Hudson River whips around me as I walk through the west side. A cigarette on 14th street will surely calm me down.
"It's not working, I can't do this. You're turning me off and nothing's funny"
"Oh okay"
He left to clean himself up. I sat up on his bed. Puzzled, embarassed and confused.
"So what are you doing today?" I asked trying to lighten the mood and break the ice after our failed attempt at fornicating
"I'm craving a milkshake and a pastrami sandwich, what about you"
"Uh, I want some coffee and I need a new pen"
"I'll come with you"
We sat awkwardly in a cafe round the bend of his apartment. His mom called him. He spoke to her about going to Philadelphia. I sank in the chair. The weight of the air felt heavy on me. It didn't feel right as it should've. I'd forced myself upon him last night and I'm faced with the reprucussions this morning. I expected something that didn't exist. My gut feeling of his obstinance was right. There was no question anymore, the languid morning solidified my concerns.
"How often do you speak to your mom?" I asked him
"Almost every day"
We left the coffee shop and made our way uptown. Me to the Blick on Sixth Avenue and him to the diner. By the time we made it to Fifth Avenue he took hold of my hand. I wondered if he could feel my qualms and reservations. Why did he feel a need to hold my hand? There wasn't an expectation. A public display of us was also not something I had in mind. We were just lazy fucks.
In a swift move, as we reached his destination, he pulled me in for a kiss. He said goodbye to me and went in the diner. I stood on the street and observed how he pulled himself through the green door. I turned to face the road and the crowd of the sidewalk.
"Come to mine then we can go together" Fatima texts me
We meet our highschool coworker at an Indian restaurant in Kips Bay, the neighborhood she was staying in for her semester-long-private-equity-internship in New York.
[Twiddled thumbs, uninteresting conversation, ennui, juxtaposing truths to life, no common interests, jokes that don't land]
Fatima and I part ways with our friend and begin making our way downtown.
"Do you want a cigarette?" I ask her pulling out a pack
"Mmm I was really craving one. She hates smokers"
"I just don't think we get along. I couldn't help how I was acting but I was just bored. Then she made that awful comment about introducing me to her roommates gay friend?"
"I could tell. Both of you were withholding information. I knew things that both of you weren't sharing to each other."
We pop into a downtown bar to finish our debrief and nightcap. I text The Photographer. His texts are scattered and illegible. He's very drunk. Whatever. He said I can come but his priority is sleeping.
I cross over Ludlow St on E Houston in a slight jog
"Yo white bitch Katz Deli is that way"
I call him. I'm scared he's fallen asleep and wont pick up.
I lay horizontally on his wooden floor
"Well, it could have been worse," he said. "They could've said he"
I propped myself up on my elbows, giving him a puzzled look
"That doesn't happen to me." My brows furrowed. "Look at me. Do I look like a boy?"
"No, I just thought-" He trailed off.
Two for two tonight. That's a strike. Am I fucking insane or is nobody seeing me. Why does no one understand me. LOOK at me. I'm not a gay man. I don't date gay boys and I definitely don't look like a ones. Not to a stranger on the street.

I began to have the suspect feeling when I would raise my hand to his face in a cup and he would oblige by placing his chin in my palm.
When he invited me back to his for a drink my suspicions confirmed, but I knew what I was doing (I had done it by design).
He fixed me a glass of tequila when I, exhausted from the evening of amicus, photo ops and free donuts I sprawled across his couch.
He positioned his chair directly in front of me, intertwining our thighs.
He gestured me up and as I took his hand and he wrapped me in his arms as Lou Reed filled the room.
He swooned me.
He threw me on the floor
My head rushed. He said he liked my laugh while we tussled around on the floor together.
"I much prefer you this way" he said
"How?" I asked
"Soft and docile"
All these social interactions fascinate me. I'm completely exhausted come the end of this week, and I'm rationing my excessive drinking through the fact that I'm not in school.
All the instagram opp parties I went to this weekend completely bore me but in an endearing way where everyone is sad and humiliating. I entertain these people who stick around
to curate and be an aesthetic, although there's no substance or value to living your life buried in online curation. Perceiving this feels like a form of escapism where everything is
rooted in the desire to create a persona and be seen in a certain way [online] (in which I argue does not exist in any meaningful way) - unless maybe it's commodified. )

Ollie wore his blue 70's plaid set with his yellow beret and I, my vintage 501s with my gray cashmere and military beret. First timer at the Whitney, on viewing, Surreal Sixties. The work was strange and abstract. I appreciated it enough while I was there. Highlight: Schmeerguntz(1965)
"We would never run into anyone from work here" Ollie said, smiling
"Everyone is really obsessed with us, this lady keeps attempting to strike conversation with us" I said, looking over my shoulder
My brain began to rummage through its thoughts about last weekend. Both photographers at 305 [Spring St] asked me where [REDACTED] was.

said he was my friend. Plagued by the touch of men, my sexual high worn off and my libido low. The lack of intimacy hurts but at least it sends a clear message.

Ollie was surprised when I told him I had planned to spent the night in New Jersey. Kahil had called me late cancelling our plans cos the viral plague he inhibited that morning. As my evening cleared, Oliver and I decided to score some hot cocoa. Who knew all the chocolatiers downtown closed at 6?
We wound up at classic Reggio for a mix of the worst hot chocolates with the driest cannolis (He hates cannolis so he got a tiramisu which was satisfactory).
Everyone here knows eachother and this situation isn't for me. I wish [REDACTED] was here with me. Maybe I'll call him, I'm debating if its too late. free drink [REDACTED]

Knowledge would be fatal. It is the uncertainty that charms one. A mist makes things wonderful.

Dorian Gray is over. Hedonisms in. Youth is in. Beauty is in. Being naive is in. The beauty in youth is opportunity and experience. I search for an experience.
That's what I'm looking for.
Against all odds [REDACTED] gave me the experience and roped me inside the underground.
I keep thinking about [REDACTED]. I've found that it tends to come in waves.
Today is Thanksgiving.
I wonder how much memory one will lack in the future. How many small and minute details that seemed so heavy and important, just forgotten
